Design specification
Philosophy and fit. Let language and direct access carry the entire identity. Suitable for artist statements, small organisations, independent publishing, and intentionally austere portfolios.
Visual grammar. Use a near-unadorned page, exceptionally large opening text, abrupt but deliberate changes in scale, visible underlined links, and full-width rules. A standard sans serif or serif family can do all the work. Keep the palette nearly monochrome, with a single functional link colour. Navigation is an explicit line of destinations, followed by a clear document sequence.
Specimen and flow. *Common Room* is a fictional artist-run programme. Read its opening statement, follow the current programme link, and inspect one event’s practical details. Supporting pages are a chronological archive and a plain contact page with a functional demonstration form.
Mobile and motion. Headline sizes adapt to the available width, while body text keeps a comfortable measure. Source order is visual order. The default experience contains no animation or overlay navigation.
Identity and effort. Preserve textual force and deliberate sparseness; avoid turning minimal styling into broken layout or quietly restoring rounded cards and sales sections. Effort: low.
