# 91 Patchbay Editions **Idea.** A publication can emerge from connecting a subject to a method. **Composition.** A dark patch panel spans the page, with labelled sockets at opposing edges and amber cables crossing a central editorial space. The selected essay is the circuit. **Navigation and complete example.** Connect one of three subjects to one of three methods, discover nine original micro-essays, read the pairing rationale and save a local patch sheet. **Responsive and inclusive behaviour.** Two socket banks become compact rows above and below the essay. Buttons provide every connection; dragging cables is unnecessary. All controls are native buttons or labelled inputs. Movement is discretionary, no sound starts automatically, reduced-motion preferences remove transitions, and a direct index exposes the same content. **Adaptation.** Keep the grammar small enough to understand and ensure every allowed connection yields deliberate content. Do not simulate arbitrary generation. Retain the relationship between navigation and content. Do not reduce the reference to a generic hero followed by interchangeable cards. **Research.** [Conditional Design manifesto](https://conditionaldesign.org/manifesto/); [Moniker — Conditional Design Workbook](https://studiomoniker.com/projects/conditional-design-workbook). These are conceptual precedents, not copied artwork, source code, branding or text. All diagrams and sample writing in this specimen are original, fictional material. ## Defining patterns - Connection grammar - Patch cables - Pairing rationale ## Routes - Entry: /preview/91-patchbay-editions/start - Connected essay: /preview/91-patchbay-editions/essay - Saved patch sheet: /preview/91-patchbay-editions/patches ## Implementation and assets The independent Vue component owns its layout and interaction. Only history navigation and optional local storage come from useSpecimen.ts. The ZIP contains the helper, runnable project, fonts, original source, all captures and their checksums. Local font files retain their OFL notices. CSS/SVG artwork is MIT; any photographs retain the notices in assets.json and THIRD_PARTY.md.
