Design specification
Philosophy and fit. Reduce the number of simultaneous decisions and let the visitor set the pace. Appropriate for quiet reading, gentle routines, reflective tools, and low-stimulation personal experiences.
Visual grammar. Use one narrow content column, short sequences, abundant breathing room, and persistent but unobtrusive back navigation. Warm stone, deep plum, and muted sage support a soft humanist sans. Essential text retains strong contrast; calm comes from composition and pacing, not faint lettering. Controls have clear boundaries and restrained feedback.
Specimen and flow. *Evening Room* offers fictional wind-down activities. Choose an activity, optionally set a duration, and enter a quiet practice screen. Supporting views include personal preferences and a finished-session state that offers an ordinary exit. No streaks, competitive scores, or surprise prompts appear.
Responsive behaviour. The primary control sits comfortably within the viewport; orientation changes preserve session state. Sound and motion start off and require deliberate activation.
Identity rules. Preserve voluntary pacing and limited choices. Avoid claiming therapeutic outcomes, using autoplay transitions, or introducing celebratory feedback at the end. Effort: low.
Distinctive composition. Quiet sentence-like labels soften the retreat’s rhythm without adding the technical flavour of monospaced eyebrows.
